A Brief History of the Parish
Runaway Bay Parish had its beginnings between 1975 and 1980 with Sunday Mass offered regularly in the St Francis Xavier School Hall by Vincentian priests from Southport Parish.
On 5th October 1980 it became a separate parish with Fr Basil Nolan appointed as its first priest. He served the Parish for 16 years and in 1983 built Holy Family Church which gave the Parish its name.
Today the Parish extends south to Brisbane Road and north as far as Helensvale; and Sanctuary Cove, east to the Bay Islands, Its priests to date have been:
